  • BHOOMIKA, Narendra Sharma Festival For Dance (2012):
    After the demise of renowned choreographer Narendra Sharma, founder director of Bhoomika, in January 2008, a decision was taken by members of the organization to hold an annual festival of choreography in New Delhi as a tribute to his memory. The IIIrd Narendra Sharma Festival of Dance 2012 was an exciting array of nationally and internationally acclaimed choreographers, dancers and artists held at Sri Ram Centre, New Delhi in February, 2012. Held at the Sri Ram Centre for Art and Culture Auditorium, The Danceworx opened the festival on the 14th of February, 2012. The pieces performed were Heard above the call – choreographed by Jaan Freeman, Freedom from reality – choreographed by Tino Sanchez, Calling - choreographed by Shohini Dutta, Irreversible - choreographed by Amith Kumar, A new day has come  - choreographed by Amith Kumar and Guilt – choreographed by Ragini Bhajanka.

    Quarterfest (2011):
    The Danceworx was a proud participant of the Quarterfest held at the Indian Habitat Center, in collaboration with Sadhya in December, 2011. Amongst the other esteemed participants were Lok Chhanda-Maitreyee Pahari, Bhoomika-Bharat Sharma, Akram Shaik, Anveshana-Sangeeta Sharma, Mayuka Ueno, India Fernando Ballet Company-Fernando Aguilera. The Danceworx presented to its audience one of its most recent choreography’s called the Chemical Reaction - choreographed by Shohini Dutta, Pankaj Guglani, Amith Kumar and Ragini Bhajanka.

    Delhi International Arts Festival (2011):
    The Delhi International Arts Festival is the first multi-art, multi-venue annual cultural festival of Delhi. Delhi International Arts Festival is a rare bouquet of all forms of art including literature that unifies the globe into one aesthetic. DIAF is the entire nation’s first such art initiative. The Danceworx under the title ‘Travelling Minds’ performed pieces like Heard above the call – choreographed by Jaan Freeman, Freedom from reality – choreographed by Tino Sanchez, Somewhere over the rainbow – choreographed by Heidi Lynn Weiss, Calling - choreographed by Shohini Dutta, Nostalgia - choreographed by Pankaj Guglani, Silent night -  choreographed by Amith Kumar

    The Spirit of America (2011):
    To mark the passing of a decade since the tragic events of September 11 and to respond to the terrorist bombing on September 7, the American Center New Delhi celebrated the September week.  They celebrated “The Spirit of America” to commemorate their September Celebration of the Enduring Resilience of New York and the American People. “The Danceworx” put up a joint effort in showcasing performances by Asha Imani Thomas, our guest teacher from US, and a few of our dancers in this endeavour.

    Spanish National Day (2010):
    12 October 1492 marks the emergence of a large Spanish speaking community of more than 350 million people who share language, values, and traditions. Since 1987, Spain has celebrated the anniversary of Columbus' arrival in the Americas as its Fiesta Nacional or "National Day". A small event was put up at the Spanish High Commission, by our guest faculty Tino Sanchez and select members of the academy to mark this day. 

    Fontys Dance Festival (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008):
    The Dean of Fontys Dance Academy, Tilburg, The Netherlands, Mr. Jacques Van Meel in the year 2004 travelled across India to invite amateur / professional / dancers for their Annual Dance Festival held at Fontys Dance Academy. After his visit to Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkatta and other major cities he visited our dance academy in Delhi and met with the Artistic Director Mr. Ashley Lobo. And finalized his invitation for our academy students to be a part of their festival. Hence, since 2005 every year the dancers visit The Fontys Dance Academy. The Danceworx was one of 18 academies invited from across the world – the only one from India to participate & perform 4 years in a row.

    Mundial Festival (2005)
    A cultural festival held across Europe in different cities where performers are invited from Europe and other select countries. Senior members of The Danceworx Repertory Company were invited to perform jointly with the Repertory Company of The Fontys Dance Academie (in a piece choreographed by a European choreographer) at the closing ceremonies of the Mundial Festival 2005.



Workshops
  • Bad Boys of Dance (2012): The Bad Boys of Dance was founded by dance superstar Rasta Thomas in 2007. Today the company brings its magic to the masses, with its hit show ‘Rock the Ballet’. The dancers combine versatility and talent and push the bounds of dance today with athletic jumps, endless turns and endearing individuality. The famous Maryland (USA) based dance troupe visited India in March 2012. The Danceworx had an opportunity to do a workshop and share the stage during their performance in the Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on theh 3rd of March, 2012. The Danceworx opened the show with a piece called Heard above the call – choreographed by Jaan Freeman. The workshop happened on the 1st of March, 2012 at the Blue Frog Club, Mehrauli, wherein all the senior members of The Danceworx participated.
     

  • National Dance Company of Wales (2011): Founded in 1983, National Dance Company Wales is an artist-led company with a wide-ranging international programme of contemporary dance including repertory touring, presenting and curating new and established artists, a portfolio of research activity and training courses for young people. The Danceworx in collaboration with the British Council did a workshop with the NDC on the 5th of December 2011 at The Danceworx Studio at Patel Nagar. The programme included Artistic Director Ann Sholem’s talk, a Masterclass by Lee Johnston and Karol Cysewski and a Masterclass by Neus Gil Cortés and Ygal Tsur.
     

  • Paul Taylor Dance Company (2011): The Paul Taylor Dance Company, created in 1993, have traveled the globe many times over, bringing Mr. Taylor’s ever-burgeoning repertoire to theaters and venues of every size and description in cultural capitals, on college campuses and in rural communities – and often to places modern dance had never been before. The Danceworx did a workshop with the PTDC II at The Danceworx Studio at Patel Nagar on the 17th February, 2011. 

 
Special Achievements of The Danceworx
  • International Scholarships (2007): Six senior students of The Danceworx are pursuing full time degree course in dance at the Fontys Dance Academy, Netherlands. Three of the senior students got full time scholarship to pursue the dance degree of which one of them Mr. Nishant Bhola is training as guest faculty at The Fontys. He has choreographed numerous pieces for the academy and its festivals, after finishing there Degree are getting trained as instructors.
     

  • World Peace Ambassadors (2006): Hundred students of The Danceworx (all under the age of 10yrs.) represented the Indian contingent in a music video of the anthem for World Peace Day, titled Love Sees No Color. Twenty-two countries are involved, of which India is one. The Indian section of this music video was shot at the Taj Mahal, Agra. It has been conceived by Nassiri, an international songwriter, recording artist and philanthropist who is dedicated to spreading a message of peace, love and healing through music. This world peace video is endorsed by Nelson Mendela and it features Nassiri with children around the world singing the chorus of the song in their native languages.
     

  • Sole representation from India at the “Choreographic Improvisation & Composition Workshop” held in France (2005, 2006 and 2007): Two senior students, Shohini Dutta and Pankaj Guglani were selected 3 years in a row by the French government and Alliance Française to participate in a six-week ‘Choreographic Improvisation & Composition Workshop’ held at Fondation Royaumont, France. Twelve dancers and/or choreographers are selected from across the globe by a committee on the basis of their dossier. This prestigious workshop is directed by Susan Buirge, American-born choreographer and the grand old dame of contemporary dance.
     

  • Young Ambassadors (2002): Twelve students of The Danceworx (all under 18 yrs.) were chosen by The Royal Netherlands Embassy to represent India in a joint dance theatre production to celebrate 400 years of Indo-Dutch relations. This production, titled A Passage to Amsterdam, was put together in 2002 with twelve Dutch students. It toured three cities in The Netherlands and two cities in India and was conceived, written, directed & choreographed by Ashley Lobo.
     

  • Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (2012): The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company is identified with the works of its Artistic Director Rami Be’er. Be’er’s creations have credited the company with international acclaim as it frequently performs in theatres and festival around the world. The KCDC came to India in February 2012 and we had a chance to do collaboration with the Israel Embassy to facilitate the Kibbutz to do shows in New Delhi and Mumbai and build up cultural relations amongst the two countries.

  • JHUMROO, Kingdom of Dreams (2012): Jhumroo is an out an out musical comedy all set to entertain its audience. Packed with 19 Bollywood retro songs, Jhumroo is a celebration of the Spirit of Kishore Kumar, a legend who continues to charm the young and old alike. Jhumroo is performed by The Danceworx Academy and choreographed by Ashley Lobo and Pankaj Guglani
