Jaison Mathew joined The Danceworx in 2001. He is trained in Jazz, Contemporary and Classical Ballet. He has also done training workshops in Latin Ballroom, Funk, Hip-hop, Acro-Yoga, Yoga, Chau Folk Dance, Gyrotonics, Theatre, and Contact Improvisation.
Apart from studying full-time at The Danceworx, Jaison has also done classes at the Broadway Dance Centre, New York (hip-hop, modern & classical ballet); at Alvin Ailey, New York (contemporary & classical ballet); at Hubbard Street Dance, Chicago (funk jazz, contemporary & classical ballet); and at Alonzo King LINES Ballet, San Francisco (classical ballet, modern & hip-hop).
Jaison has danced in various pieces of The Danceworx Student Repertory Company repertoire, choreographed by Indian and International choreographers. And he has performed extensively for stage and film.
Theatrical performances in India include: Salaam India (2008), About Nothing (2003) and That's Dancing! (2001).
His international performances include: Salaam India7-city USA tour (2008), and Fontys Dance Festival, The Netherlands (2008).
Performances at major events include: 1000 Day Countdown to Commonwealth Games XIX (2008), International Film Festival of India opening ceremony (2006), Tribute to R.D. Burman, musical concert with Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy in Goa (2006), Commonwealth Games XVIII Queen's Baton Relay (2005), Bhartiya Pravasi Milan (2004),and The Taj Mahal Hotel Centenary Celebration (2003).
His film performances include: No Smoking (director AnuragKashyap, choreographer Ashley Lobo), Dhoom (director Sanjay Gadhvi, choreographer Ashley Lobo) and Socha Na Tha (director Imtiaz Ali, choreographer Ashley Lobo).
Jaison is an experienced choreographer, and has choreographed extensively for both stage and film.
Choreographies for theatrical productions & shows include: Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (2012), Celebrate Bandra Festival (2010, 2011 & 2012), and The Times of India Wassup! Andheri Festival (2012).
School/ college production choreographies include: The King and I, for Annual Day of Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai (2009): Annual Day of New Era Public School, Mumbai (2008); Annual Day of Billabong High International School, Mumbai (2008), Annual Day of St. Stanislaus High School, Mumbai (2008) , 50th Annual Day of Bluebells International School, New Delhi (2007); Annual Day of Chiranjiv Bharati School, Gurgaon (2007); and Annual Day of Hamdard Public School, New Delhi (2005).
Jaison has choreographed for various corporate events, including the following: Microsoft Windows Vista launch, Agra (2007) and the Commonwealth Games XVIII Queen's Baton Relay, performed at the National Stadium, New Delhi (2005). and the Just Cavalli Fragrance Launch, Mumbai (2014).
Jaison's film choreography includes assisting choreographer Ashley Lobo for the following films: One By Two (director DevikaBhagat), Rockstar (director Imtiaz Ali), Teen Patti (director Leena Yadav), PyaarKaPunchnama (director Luv Ranjan) and Blue (director Anthony D'Souza).
Music videos and ads assisting include: Disney Channel promo (Think Hard Productions), choreographer Ashley Lobo, and music video of Love Sees No Colour: World Peace Day Anthemendorsed by Nelson Mandela, involving 22 countries (conceived by Nassiri, an international singer, songwriter & philanthropist) shot at the Taj Mahal, Agra (2006).
Jaison's vision to create a platform for people to let their creativity flow, to think out of the box and create something amazing out of nothing. He also wants to create his own dance movement and stylebased on the flow of the Infinity Sign.
